Why It Works as a Holiday Gift

It fits in a stocking. The box is about 4 by 5.5 inches and an inch thick.

It seats the whole table. Six from one deck, twelve with two shuffled together in Party Mode, which makes a second copy the gift that upgrades the first.

It's learned on the day. The teach is one sentence: get rid of your cards first, playing equal or higher. Nobody reads a rulebook on Christmas morning.

It's done before dinner. A round takes about 15 minutes, and there's no scoring to keep.

For Kids 8 and Up, and Everyone Else at the Table

The guide filed Sly3 with games for 8 and up, and that's right where the Chaos Rule kicks in: anyone holding an exact match of the top card can play it out of turn. Younger kids start in Relaxed mode, with the Chaos Rule off, and the box says 7+. Grandparents play too. The Blind Flip at the end of every round means the youngest player at the table can beat the oldest, fair and square.

The age group that's taken to Sly3 fastest has been pre-teens. Kids around 9 to 12 pick up the Chaos Rule in a round or two, then start stealing turns from the adults. They're the ones asking to deal again, teaching their friends, and pulling the deck out at sleepovers. If there's a pre-teen on your list, this is the one.
